Ingredients: mixed greens, 5 large strawberries, 1/4 cup of goat cheese, 1 onion, balsamic vinegar dressing, salt, pepper, oil
Use half of the onion and slice it into strands. Place them in a saute pan with oil to caramelize them. Add a little salt and pepper. Let them cool. Quarter the strawberries to garnish the salad. Crumble the goat cheese by hand. Plate the mixed greens and add the strawberries, goat cheese and onions on top. Pour the balsamic vinegar on to finish.
Cheese gives a lot of flavor to salad recipes, whichever variety you choose to add. Either crumble the cheese over the greens or use a ready made blue cheese dressing. Combining sweet flavors like candied nuts, slivers of pear or apple with the salty, sharp flavor of something like Stilton or Roquefort gives great results.
