Ingredients: 1 yellow apple, quartered, 1 pear, quartered, 1 orange, peeled and sectioned, 1/2 grapefruit, peeled and sectioned, 1 cup strawberries, stemmed, 1/4 cup each red and green seedless grapes, 1 tbsp. honey, Champagne

Cut the apple, pear, orange and grapefruit into bite-size pieces into a small bowl. Add honey and toss gently. Chill for at least 30 minutes. Spoon fruit into champagne glasses, filling them up halfway. Fill remainder of glasses with chilled champagne. Dip the edges of the glasses in colored sugar crystals and garnish them with slices of lemons or oranges for a festive touch.

You can simply garnish the festive fruit salad with lemon wedges or orange wedges. To keep he fruits from discoloring you can toss them first in lemon juice before adding the honey. You can also serve this salad as a starter in lieu of green salad. The champagne acts as the acidic ingredient instead of balsamic vinegar. The honey perfectly complements the champagne and creates a memorable and harmonious dish in color, taste and texture. Alternatively, you can serve the festive fruit salad on a bed of lettuce. If you wish to serve this dish as a dessert, you can top it with whipped cream or yogurt for a nice touch. Top it with sprinkled nuts for flavor and texture.
